Mountain goats!

We stopped at Logan Pass and hiked to the viewpoint at Hidden Lake. Along the way we saw about 10 mountain goats, including several kids. They were so cute!

Touring in style

Vintage buses.

Vintage buses.

So when I was here last, these touring cars were still the original 1930’s versions. But between now and then, Ford Motor company has completely overhauled them with more modern, efficient engines and running systems. The tours were introduced in the 1930s by the Great Northern Railway, which played a large role in developing the park as a tourist destination. My great-grandmother on my father’s side worked as a nanny for one of the Great Northern executives, and she traveled to Glacier Natl. Park with his family in their private rail car. The boots she wore to hike around here are still in my grandfather’s possession. Maybe this is why I love this park so much!
