A page a day

Life on California's beautiful Central Coast

Tall Ships

The sound of booming cannons on the river really gave us a start this afternoon as we were enjoying a post-walk glass of wine on the hotel rooftop.

Turns out it was the “warring” of several tall ships on the St. Laurent river, and they soon sailed into view across the rooftop obstructions.

Tonight after dinner we walked down to see them in port.

Watching the crew of the largest scramble up the rigging to pull up one of their main sails was quite a show.

The streets of Montreal really come alive after dark. There are all sorts of little bistros and bars and restaurants around our hotel that you wouldn’t even notice in the daytime.

We have decided to depart here tomorrow and head for North Hatley, which is between here and Quebec. We’ll check out some cideries along the way.

From a gallery window near our hotel. Winter is coming..
