This coast reminded me of Carmel and Big Sur. Beautiful and largely inaccessible. The squat lighthouse was pretty funny.

We ended up driving back to Pt. Alberni last night and staying at the farm again. It was so hot we sat by the river until 9 p.m. We concluded that our trip to the west coast of Vancouver Island was a bust, and we don’t recommend it as a destination. The only other place we have said that about so far is Missoula.
