A page a day

Life on California's beautiful Central Coast

Rainy day at the lake

Storm over Lake McDonald.

Storm over Lake McDonald.

Yesterday it rained for most of the day. We spent a lot of time in the van, watching a Canadian TV series called “Slings and Arrows” which is really funny. We did get out for a short hike (with bear bells, newly purchased in West Glacier) along the shore of Lake McDonald during a break in the storm. Not far from the campground are the remains of a devastating 2003 fire that burned about 15 percent of the park (150,000 acres or so). It came within a quarter mile of the Fish Creek campground.

Lots of beautiful wildflowers are growing  in the fire aftermath. I attempted to post a photo of one, but connectivity is really difficult here.

This may be my last post for awhile. We are heading deeper into the park and I’m not sure if we will have wireless again before the Canadian border.
