Life on California's beautiful Central Coast

Grand Junction, Colorado

We really liked Grand Junction! What a cool downtown. All sorts of public art, neat local shops (many that have been there for decades), hardly any touristy stuff. You know it’s not geared toward tourists when no one is open on Sunday.

We had an omelette at one of two restaurants that was open. It was a good omelette, although the service was horrible. But I really liked this town. Couple downtown theatres with reasonably known acts coming in, a really great old music store, bookstore, a knitting store .. neat.

Homes can be found for under $200,000. Who wants to move to Grand Junction? Oh right. I was going to check the annual low temperature and average yearly snowfall first.

We were a few days late for the annual pancake breakfast.

A figurehead of Ouray, Chief of the Utes. I read a great book about him before coming on the trip. A true Native American leader.

James Dalton Trumbo made his fellow Junctionians real mad when he wrote about them. He became a famous screenwriter. Liked to work in the bathtub.
