Life on California's beautiful Central Coast

Santa Fe breakfast

Served until 2 p.m. at the Tecolote Cafe. Best coffee I’ve had in months. To eat: Huevos Yucatecos – fresh corn tortilla, black beans, two eggs over medium, feta cheese, pico de gallo, green chile smother, jalapenos and tomatoes on top; and the side: two fried bananas. Oh, and also a bread basket with delicious homemade biscuits, muffins and strawberry jam. Dad, you wouldn’t like the restaurant motto: “No toast!”

Took a Sunday morning run along the Arroyo Chamisa urban trail that leads from the outskirts of town where we are staying into Santa Fe. Walkers, joggers, a few cyclists – kind of felt like the Goleta bike path.  Maps every mile or so drawn by schoolkids; notices of neighborhood arroyo cleanups posted on the map kiosks. Lots of cute dogs. This is a nice small city.
