Mom and dad are in Amsterdam, so Loki, Huckle, Erik and I are spending some quality time in Santa Ynez.
Yesterday I got to go to the beach with my brother and his dog, Snickers. Snickers and I hung out on the beach while Will surfed. We all had a swell (ha ha, actually the waves were tiny) time.
If you have been following this blog all summer, you know already that I am a big mural fan.
Today I happen upon some great new murals in SB and took their photos for Edhat. They are really cool! Here are a few shots of the murals and their artists’ signatures.
I was out walking around on Labor Day for work. Cuteness from canines!
Why did Bridlewood Winery cut the top rail off of their fence?
Since we’ve been home I’ve been bouncing around a lot. But, we’ve been here just over a week and things are stabilizing nicely.
I’m focusing most of my energy on full time work at Edhat.com, Santa Barbara’s uniquely local community website. It’s a great place to get free community news and information, as well as original content. We’ll be ramping that up in the months to come.
Also, I’m also training to run in the inaugural Santa Barbara International Marathon in December. The running I did while we were traveling was mainly base mileage. Now I’m ready to stretch out my long run in preparation for race day. Tomorrow I’ll do a long run of about 1 hour and 45 minutes. That will go up incrementally, 15 minutes added each week, from here on out.
It’s great to be eating a lot of late summer vegetables, fish and high-protein meats. The weather here has been hot all week, but it seems like we’re going to have a nice Labor Day weekend.
We miss being in the van, even though it’s parked in the driveway. Yesterday I woke up and wished I was under some big trees next to a river. But there are so many great memories to reflect on!
Thursday night I went for a hike up the Jesusita Trail, which is part of the area that burned during the Jesusita Fire in May, right before we left town. It is very crispy up there.
